4 Steps To Port or MNP From One Telecom Operator To Another
On the matter of Telecommunication, thanks to MNP or Mobile Number Portability a program followed on the regulations by TRAI or Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. According to which a user can switch between any two operators as per there choice without changing their existing mobile number.
But while with MNP process, TRAI also comes with some terms which a user need to fulfill over the existing network like both the network providers should be Indian telecommunication were a user should be at least active subscriber for 90 days from the day of activation with all pending due bills cleared along with a generated UPC (or Unique Porting Code).
Steps To Port From One Telecom Operator To Another
- Navigate to write message option and type PORT<space>along with 10 digit mobile number then send to 1900. But for the Jammu and Kashmir users, they need to call on 1900 and verify their identity for security reasons.
- Now with the UPC generated within 15 days, you need to head over your nearest retailer or the service point of the telecom on which you would like to port in with proper documents including passport size photo along with a self-attested copy of Driving Licence, Passport, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Pan Card or a copy of Rent agreement, Landline Bill, Electricity Bill, or a three-month bank statement can be provided as address proof. But while for some areas you just need a UPC generated along with Aadhaar Card.
- After completing the above process a user just needs to wait for seven days for MNP process to complete in normal circumstances. But while for circles like Assam, North East, Jammu & Kashmir the process might take 15 days to complete.
- And when the process is complete the old SIM will stop receiving signals.
Please note that all the above MNP steps are applicable to all the Indian telecom providers such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, Idea, etc.
