Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 To Get Android Oreo, Portrait Mode and more
Having a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5? Then here comes the good news for you. Recently, Xiaomi had officially confirmed to roll out an official Android Oreo-based MIUI update for all its Redmi Note 5 devices. While the updates will basically get rolled out within two to three days through an OTA update. Notably, while with this updates Xiaomi will be offering MIUI v22.214.171.124.0 updates which include Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box, Face Unlock, Portrait Mode for a selfie and much more. As the news was announced at MIUI Forums, were Xiaomi also confirmed that at a current phase the devices belonging to Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam will get the updates and while the other countries need to wait a bit get the feature enabled by Xiaomi.

At the moment were Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 runs on MIUI 9.5 with built-in Android Nouget 7.1 for Indian devices. But while with this MIUI v188.8.131.52.0 update the most important comes the devices get the Android Oreo 8.1 with other featured included as autofill passwords, adaptive icons, Face Unlock mode, selfie portrait mode along with an update over the camera algorithm to capture much better images than before, etc.

But as the MIUI v220.127.116.11.0 is a phased roll-out so on the first phase the devices belonging to Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam will get the updates. So if the Xiaomi gets any bugs may create a minimal damage and on that case, Xiaomi may stop the updates and fix those bugs and then restarts the update rollout. As the same procedure which we got to see with Android One devices like Mi A1 and Mi A2.
